Perjeta 420mg/14ml Injection Ingredients and Usage
Perjeta 420mg/14ml Injection contains pertuzumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody belonging to the HER2 receptor antagonist drug class. Oncologists prescribe it for HER2 positive metastatic breast cancer in patients who have not received prior anti-HER2 therapy or chemotherapy for metastatic disease.
Perjeta 420mg/14ml Injection is also used in early stage HER2 positive breast cancer, given before surgery as neoadjuvant treatment or after surgery as adjuvant treatment. It is always combined with trastuzumab and docetaxel chemotherapy, never given alone.
How Does Perjeta 420mg/14ml Injection Work?
Pertuzumab binds to subdomain II of the HER2 receptor, a protein overexpressed on the surface of HER2 positive breast cancer cells. This binding prevents HER2 from pairing with other HER family receptors, particularly HER3.
By blocking this pairing, Perjeta 420mg/14ml Injection interrupts the downstream signaling that drives tumor cell growth and survival. Combined with trastuzumab, it provides a more complete HER2 blockade and also activates antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity, helping the immune system attack cancer cells directly.
Perjeta 420mg/14ml Injection Side Effects
Perjeta 420mg/14ml Injection commonly causes digestive and general side effects, often alongside the chemotherapy agents given with it.
