Aryotrust Ingredients and Usage
Aryotrust contains trastuzumab, a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody from the HER2 inhibitor drug class. Doctors prescribe Aryotrust for HER2 positive early breast cancer and metastatic breast cancer in adults. Oncologists also use Aryotrust to treat HER2 positive metastatic gastric cancer, often combined with chemotherapy.
HER2 is the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 protein, found on certain tumour cell surfaces. Aryotrust works only against cancers that overexpress this HER2 protein, confirmed through a companion diagnostic test. A specialist administers Aryotrust as an intravenous infusion after reconstitution with sterile water.
How Does Aryotrust Work?
Aryotrust binds to the extracellular domain of the HER2 receptor on cancer cells. This binding blocks HER2 signalling, which the tumour normally uses to drive rapid cell growth and division. As a result, Aryotrust halts the proliferation of HER2 positive cancer cells.
Aryotrust also triggers antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity, a process where immune cells attack the tagged tumour. Trastuzumab is an IgG1 antibody, so it flags HER2 overexpressing cells for destruction by the immune system. This dual mechanism leads to the death of cancerous cells while sparing most normal tissue.
Aryotrust Side Effects
Aryotrust causes infusion related reactions in up to 40 percent of patients during the first dose. These reactions and other common effects are usually mild to moderate and ease with later infusions.
Chills and fever during or shortly after infusion
Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
Fatigue and headache
Musculoskeletal pain and hot flashes
Cough, breathlessness, and swelling (edema)
Flu like symptoms
Reduced heart pumping function (cardiotoxicity)
Warnings
Aryotrust carries a boxed warning for cardiotoxicity, including reduced left ventricular ejection fraction and heart failure. Doctors check heart function before and during treatment.
The cardiac risk rises sharply when Aryotrust combines with anthracycline chemotherapy, so close monitoring is essential.
Aryotrust can cause severe infusion reactions, including anaphylaxis, angioedema, and life threatening breathing problems.
Trastuzumab is teratogenic and harms the fetus, so patients must avoid pregnancy and use contraception during treatment.
Aryotrust is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to trastuzumab or to Chinese hamster ovary cell proteins.
Use extreme caution in patients with pre existing cardiac dysfunction, LVEF of 55 percent or below, or severe lung disease.
Aryotrust Storage Conditions
Store unopened Aryotrust vials in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C in the original carton to protect the powder from light. Never freeze Aryotrust, as freezing damages the trastuzumab protein and makes the medicine unsafe to use. Keep the vial out of the reach of children, and let a healthcare professional handle reconstitution and storage of the prepared solution.
