Temo Eirgen 250mg Capsule contains temozolomide, an oral alkylating agent used in chemotherapy. An alkylating agent is a drug that damages cancer cell DNA so the cells cannot divide. Specialist oncologists prescribe Temo Eirgen for aggressive brain tumours.

Temo Eirgen 250mg Capsule treats newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme alongside radiotherapy, then as maintenance therapy. It also treats malignant glioma and anaplastic astrocytoma that return after standard treatment. Temozolomide is the standard of care for these high grade brain cancers.

How Does Temo Eirgen 250mg Capsule Work?

Temo Eirgen 250mg Capsule acts as a prodrug that converts to the active compound MTIC in the body. Temozolomide then attaches methyl groups to DNA, mainly at the O6 and N7 positions of guanine. This methylation damages the DNA of dividing cancer cells.

The primary toxic lesion, O6 methylguanine, triggers faulty DNA repair and cell death. Tumours with a silenced MGMT repair gene respond best, since MGMT removes this damage. Temo Eirgen therefore stops cancer cells from multiplying and triggers their death.

Temo Eirgen 250mg Capsule Side Effects

Temo Eirgen 250mg Capsule causes side effects common to alkylating chemotherapy. Nausea, fatigue, and low blood counts are the most frequent effects.
