The active ingredient is Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate, a nucleotide analog that inhibits viral replication. One 300mg tablet is taken once daily with food, as part of combination antiretroviral therapy for HIV or as monotherapy for Hepatitis B. Hilfovir is clinically indicated for:

• Treatment of HIV-1 infection in combination with other antiretroviral agents
• Chronic Hepatitis B virus infection with compensated liver disease
• Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention in high-risk individuals
