Epclusa Ingredients and Usage

The active ingredients are Sofosbuvir (a nucleotide analog NS5B polymerase inhibitor) and Velpatasvir (an NS5A inhibitor). One tablet is taken once daily with or without food.

Epclusa is clinically indicated for:

• Chronic Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in adults
• All HCV genotypes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6)
• Patients with compensated cirrhosis (with or without ribavirin)
• Treatment-naïve and treatment-experienced patients

1. Hepatitis B Reactivation: Risk of HBV reactivation in co-infected patients – test for HBV before starting
2. Bradycardia with Amiodarone: Serious symptomatic bradycardia may occur with concomitant amiodarone
3. Drug Interactions: Significant interactions with rifampin, carbamazepine, and St. John’s wort
4. Renal Impairment: Safety not established in severe renal impairment
