Some institutions allow international grauates before they clear plab2, and some dont. Just a matter of you going to their doorsteps. 1 month is good, but you do for as long as you want. Purpose is to get a UK referew, knowing the system, and filling gaps of employment in your CV

@rubab- very difficult for me to tell you the best time for academy for plab1 as I didnt take it mtself. Check other blogs and see what people recommend.

@maleeha- I dont think so. Your ielts validity is important for plab1. There should be no problem for plab2. Email gmc and see what they have to say

@A.Raja- 1. I think you can sit for your plab1 on it. But dont apply for a separate visa for Plab1. They reject it on the basis that you can give it in pakistan
2. I think you cant convert visit visas while in the UK. you can possibly extend them, but cant convert
3. Job market is reasonable for non training sho posts. It also depends what specialty you want, for example there arw many for accidents and emergency, trauma and orthopaedics. Have a look on nhs jovs, and yoy will get an idea.

hi..thanks for all the info u gave..its really helping..i want to ask you one thing...as u mentioned that we should make a good CV and should apply for clinical attachment before clearing plab 2. So do the hospitals in UK accept overseas graduates for clinical attachments even if they have not cleared their plab ? and what should be the minimum duration of clinical attachment one should do?

@Mohammed Omar Ahmed: Once you have a valid I 797 the chances of COS being denied are close to 0. i am going for the stamping from my home country despite having probably the most common name. Remember me in prayers.

hi quratulain
for gmc criteria please refer to gmc-uk.org or go thru my articles.i have mentioned it somehwere bt cant remember on top of my head sorry but its defo ere somewhere
resident labour test is jus a check they do when they give u tier2 visa..its nthin related to an individual, its a test basically for the employer who gives u the sponsorship, they jus check if all criterias have been checked and this job is going to some international med graduate only if there r no suitable candidates available locally...
if u have done 12 mnths of ur f2 then ull get ur speciality trainin..u need to work really hard though as it is still tuff for IMGS to get into speciality training..m goin thru all this at the moment and its very competetive. u need to have a clear idea wta u want to do in future n how flexible u can be..as few of my colleagues din get wat they want but they changed their mind and opted for psychiatry, GP posts jus to buy some time and apply again next year for the speciality they wanted,..so its a bit of wait n watch game which is easy for sm ppl ,difficult for many ..esp for girls...hope tht helps
