This article’s purpose is to serve as a guide for those of you who wish to apply in an Internal Medicine program. Please keep in mind that our list may not be very accurate, but we have done whatever we could to the best of our abilities. We hope you will find this useful.
The first thing you should bear in mind is that as an IMG from DMC, you should aim to apply to around 100 programs. The programs you end up choosing, will depend on your USMLE scores and your CV (electives, research, etc). An applicant with a high score and strong CV should apply to more University programs as compared to an applicant with a lower score, and weaker CV.
Another thing you shouldn’t forget, is that if you are a green card holder, your chances of getting calls is higher, than the average DMC applicant. You are also more likely to get calls from programs that are not listed below. What this means is that if you are green card holder, do not restrict yourself to the list below.
The list below is divided into the headings of:
1. UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS
2. COMMUNITY AFFILIATED UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS
3. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
Each category is farther divided according to state.
If you notice any mistakes in the list below, please contact us directly, or leave a comment below. We will update the list according to your feedback.

Great work!
We forgot to add University of Buffalo in New York state…It offers H1 and is a university program
Another program….SUNY Upstate Medical University at Syracuse Program, Syracuse, NY
This is a great post!! Do you think you could make a post about the residency interviews and what kinds of questions they ask, and the best way to answer them?
we will update this list soon for the upcoming match…This last for the last match…We will upload some stuff on the interviews soon
many programs have five years cut of? does that mean at the time of application or at the time of expected residency start date?
Guys this is pretty appreciable. Thank you so much dr Luni and Dr Ali. Wonderful
!
Anyone who is a frequent visitor to this site and has valuable info, please share it.
You are most welcome jamal shah
anyone who has applied match before plz reply
i want to apply in internal medicine
about five years requirement…how you will count it…..at the time of application or at the time of expected residency start date?
thanks
@ sarah: you count from the start of residency date. But it is not that big a problem, if you have good scores and a good CV; time since graduation will be overshadowed. Hope it helps. I have seen people matching in good programs even after 7 years, so one should not lose hope.
University of Florida College of Medicine Jacksonville Program
…………..maybe friendly, chief resident is from SMC
i shall edit the list tonight. Thanks for the input Maliha
Marshall University School of Medicine Program …….west virginia…maybe friendly resident from JMC
there is texas tech university arrmarillo on this list…what abt texas tech university lubbock and permian basin…they seem to have exactly same requirements too….
@ Ali, Great work. Just want to add one thing that UAB Montgomery will be sponsoring J1 only from next year.
gr8 work guys…… wanted to ask something from dr.Ali and dr.Luni…I am doing an elective at university of queensland, austrailia,in Infectious diseases. will it boost my chances at the match???
I am doing this elective in final year of med school and have no prior US ex[erience…how much does it count at resdency interviews???was desperate for a foreign elective and UoQ accepted me so am going there…
Good job Ali
!!
@Omair. Thanks a million dude for updating us on UAB (montgomery)
@Shahvaiz. Doing an elective in Australia, is definitely better than doing it in Pakistan. But it is not going to do the type of benefit, a US elective would provide. So i recommend that you should do elective in the US if you plan to pursue post grad over there.
@Isra’a Thanks
Any advise on all the aku friendly programs on this list??
umm, plzz recheck caritas carney, masachusetts for sponsorship…i dont think is H1
uni of texax medical branch..galveston….says J1 on the site
rosalind franklin Illinois…its a J1 program
United Health Services Hospitals Program….johnson city, newyork…H1….pakistani residents
uni of nevada are 2…vegas and reno..plzz specify which onee?
umm..the senior who matched in iowa this yr…program is not on the list…
Just a question out of curiosity.. what are the chances of matching into a residency program the year u graduate?! or right after the 1year internship?
Amazing work…Thnx a million.
